Christmas assembly : The Annunciation

(0)
This is a plan for a Christmas assembly on the Annunciation (when Mary was visited by the Angel Gabriel), with a focus on promises and trust. There is an attached PowerPoint with the assembly starter and the story of the Annunciation. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. So this assembly involves the children discussing promises made by various people in their lives before listening to the story and again discussing. There is a lot of opportunity for children to think about their own experiences and to feedback. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with. All resources needed for the assembly are included. They are in the zip file. These are: 4 page PDF assembly plan 24 slide animated PowerPoint (This is not editable. Click ‘Read Only’ to open. The Good Samaritan assembly

This is a plan for an assembly on differences. It is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. This assembly uses a school scenario similar to the story of The Good Samaritan. It involves asking for volunteers during the assembly to do some easy acting, something I always find maintains the whole school’s interest. It concludes with a discussion of Jesus’ parable of The Good Samaritan, which I would tell in just a few sentences, though you can use the link to a clip or read from the Bible. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with.

Love Assembly - Love does not keep a record of wrongs - Valentines day

(0)
This is a 3 page pdf plan and a 15 slide PowerPoint presentation for an assembly on love, with a focus on part of a Bible quote. In this assembly, children are encouraged to think about how love should not keep a record of wrongs. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute! You can use the plan on its own or alongside the PowerPoint. (This is non-editable. Please click ‘Read Only’ to open) I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. So this assembly involves using a volunteer to pretend to be you while you tell an anecdote from your childhood. You can either borrow this from the plan or recall a real one from your own childhood. There is a lot of opportunity for all children to think about their own experiences of friendship and love and to feed back. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with.
